The municipality of Abrantes is the largest in size and the third most populous in the Middle Tejo Region.
It extends for about 713.46 km2 and according to Census 2011 it has 39.325 inhabitants.
Located in the center of Portugal, it is the point of confluence of different areas such as Ribatejo, Beira Baixa and Alto Alentejo.
Its privileged geostrategic location makes Abrantes the most central city in the country with an accessibility network that allows a quick connection to anywhere in the country and to Spain.
Abrantes has the two largest water resources in the country:
the Tejo River (which crosses the county over a length of about 30 km) and the Castelo do Bode Lake.
