The municipality of Abrantes is the largest in size and the third most populous in the Middle Tejo Region.

It extends for about 713.46 km2 and according to Census 2011 it has 39.325 inhabitants.

Located in the center of Portugal, it is the point of confluence of different areas such as Ribatejo, Beira Baixa and Alto Alentejo.

Its privileged geostrategic location makes Abrantes the most central city in the country with an accessibility network that allows a quick connection to anywhere in the country and to Spain.

Abrantes has the two largest water resources in the country:

the Tejo River (which crosses the county over a length of about 30 km) and the Castelo do Bode Lake.

“Known as the second largest river basin of Portugal, Castelo do Bode Lake, with more than 60km long, impresses by its wealth and scenic beauty that leaves no one indifferent and offers unique conditions for the practice of leisure activities and various water sports.
The Wakeboard Project Portugal is a unique opportunity to promote Castelo do Bode Lake worldwide and that’s why Abrantes county is associated to this project that will enable the success of an important strategic vector to position the Middle Tejo region as a destination of excellence for Wakeboard practicing.”
